HISTORIC PHOTOGRAPHSWITH A GOTHIC TWIST |
|
These photographs were discovered recently in an old "Scrap Album" in the bottom of a box of dusty books. The album was compiled about 1877 by my great great Aunt by marriage to preserve an eclectic selection of black-and-white pictures that caught her eye, most, I imagine, clipped from illustrated papers and magazines. It includes many reproductions of popular paintings of the time as well as photographs which have now, with the passage of time, become far more interesting. Although some of them are not very sharp, I thought them worth seeing. |
